Youth Ministries Supervisor
This position oversees and directs all activities related to the children and youth programs of the mission, which includes providing Christian curriculum, programs and events. The Administrator is responsible for the spiritual leadership of the department. Flexible hours are required including evenings and weekends.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Directly supervises the employees in the Youth Department and temporary summer staff.
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree and/or 3+ years in teaching/and or ministering to youth.
Requirements: Must be able to pass the pre-employment lift test based on the job description. This position is required to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and between 25 – 50 pounds occasionally. Also frequent standing, walking and bending required.
Must possess a valid Illinois driver’s license, clear driving record, and personal vehicle insurance coverage. Possess a valid Illinois driver’s license.
Position Description: This position provides high-level administrative support for the Executive Director by conducting research, preparing statistical reports, handling information requests, and performing clerical functions such as preparing correspondence, receiving visitors, arranging conference calls, and scheduling meetings. The Executive Assistant must exercise considerable initiative, independent judgement and discretion in performing complex office and administrative duties and in keeping informed of organizational policies, rules and regulations. Also develops and refines operational routines and carries their work through to completion with minimum supervision.
Required: Associates Degree supplemented by courses in business or secretarial studies; 5 years of progressively responsible office management experience including exposure to computer applications; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Office Administration or other relevant field or equivalent experience
Bona Fide Occupational Qualifications: Must be of Christian faith, active in local church attendance and able to share your personal testimony of faith in Christ.
Volunteer/Special Events Coordinator
Position Description: The Volunteer & Events Coordinator is an integrated member of the development department with the objective to support the ministry of South Side Mission by building an ever-increasing network of volunteer support for the organization. The person in this role is responsible for volunteer recruitment, orientation, project planning, implementation and supervision of volunteer activities; and, with the assistance of the Development Manager, coordination of South Side Mission events.
Communicate with all departments of the organization to identify available opportunities and needs for volunteers.
Recruit, screen, interview and train new volunteers.
Provide ongoing training and supervision of preexisting volunteers, ensuring that volunteers are given appropriate training to be successful in their positions.
Orient, train, coach, motivate, measure and evaluate volunteers in accordance with organizational policies, procedures and programs. Orient volunteers to increase their understanding of the organization, its clients, its services and the role and responsibilities of volunteers.
Assist in the planning, implementation and volunteer support for Mission events including annual Volunteer Appreciation event, annual Thanksgiving and Christmas Meal ministry events, DVI Ping Pong Challenge, annual Mission banquet/fundraiser and other fundraising or friend-raising events.
Perform other event duties as needed
Every employee is required at times to take in donations of food and/or other materials, thus, each will be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
