SERVING OUR YOUTH THROUGH CHRIST-CENTERED PROGRAMS

The Bible is our standard of measure and its principles are our compass. By instilling the word of God in our programs, we not only provide academic skills but also provide kids with the knowledge and tools necessary to be the best person that God purposed them to be.

TUTORING

GREATER ACADEMIC PROGRESS

One-on-one tutoring centered around each child’s specific needs. Tutors help in all subjects including reading, math, science, and more. Tutoring develops stronger time management, study skills, and how to capitalize on their strengths.

HORTICULTURE

Our horticulture program combines hands-on agricultural education with faith-based values. Through hydroponics and greenhouse gardening, youth grow vegetables and flowers while learning about God’s creation, stewardship, and the importance of hard work. Jesus is at the center of all we do, and every activity is an opportunity for growth—both in the garden and in faith.

YOUTH CULINARY

Where faith, flavor, and future come together. In a fully equipped kitchen, students learn hands-on cooking skills at individual stations with live instruction. But it’s more than cooking — it’s confidence, character, and “Recipes of Hope.” Each session blends spiritual reflection and social-emotional growth, feeding both body and soul.

SUMMER DAY CAMP

Each summer, Monday through Friday, South Side Mission operates a Day Camp for school-age children. Participants enjoy swimming, crafts, outings, lunch, Bible studies, and a whole lot of fun! The Day Camp program runs for eight weeks during the summer and provides a great experience for every child it serves.

Registration Deadline: June 1st

E-SPORTS

Our E-Sports program gives students access to state-of-the-art computers and gaming systems in a fully renovated, high-tech gaming room. More than just play, it’s a place where youth build teamwork, strategy, and leadership skills in a fun, competitive environment. Rooted in our ministry values, the program encourages healthy gaming habits, positive communication, and Christlike character—on and off the screen.

YOUTH ORCHESTRA

The Youth Orchestra is dedicated to reaching Peoria’s inner-city students with the Good News of Jesus Christ as they learn the techniques of playing in an orchestra. With the help of some very talented volunteers, students learn to excel at playing the violin or cello.

DEVOTIONS

Each day begins with a time of spiritual grounding in our 1127 Worship Center, where students gather for a Christ-centered devotion. Through prayer, Scripture, and reflection, they are encouraged to start their day with purpose, gratitude, and a focus on God’s truth. These moments set the tone for everything that follows—reminding our youth that their identity, growth, and success are rooted in Jesus.
