New Thrift Store

South Side Mission Continues Plans for New Thrift Store

South Side Mission, which has been serving the 61605 neighborhoods since its inception in 1925, is bringing a Thrift Store to the south end of Peoria. The former Benevolence Center has been cleaned out, and contractors are being interviewed to lead the remodeling and construction. The new store is expected to open later this summer or early fall at 2919 W. Garden in Peoria, just a few blocks from the South Side Mission main campus on Laramie.

“We are working with IDG+ Architects and we are so excited to bring this store to the 61605 area and to have a bigger impact in this community, said Rev. Craig Williams, Executive Director of South Side Mission.

By shopping and donating at South Side Mission Thrift Stores you help support local South Side Mission ministries that assist thousands in Peoria annually. “Shopping at our Thrift Stores is more than the feeling you get when you find a special piece, it’s also that feeling of knowing you are helping a neighbor who may be experiencing hard times,” says Williams.

The Thrift Store project is just one in a series of growth areas the Mission is seeking in the coming months and years. “This is a great example of South Side Mission living out our mission statement and bringing hope into the 61605, as well as being good stewards of our supporter’s donations,” said Williams.

South Side Mission exists to proclaim Jesus Christ, in His name love our neighbors and provide hope to the community through life transforming ministries.
